About the Work
In 2023, my auntie Steph Blore published her third children’s book, It’s Cool to Be Kind. When the audiobook was being recorded, I wrote Juvenilia as incidental music to accompany the recording.
I have since come back to this piece and edited it into this version for small orchestra. Juvenilia depicts closely the story, from the tweeting of birds to the sleepy, stillness of napping parents. Suitable for orchestras of varying skill levels, the whimsy and joy of this book is on full display.
